A single-mineral formula providing 25 mg of elemental zinc in a chelated bis-glycinate form. Zinc helps maintain normal immune function and supports connective-tissue formation, wound healing, skin health and the metabolism of nutrients.
 
BEST FOR
Adults who require additional zinc because of inadequate dietary intake, a confirmed deficiency or increased needs identified by a healthcare professional. The bis-glycinate form may be gentler on the stomach than some conventional zinc salts.
 
This is a relatively high-potency daily zinc supplement. More zinc is not necessarily better, and it should not be promoted as a treatment or guaranteed preventative for colds, infections, acne or hair loss.
 
HOW TO TAKE IT
Adults 19 years and older: Take 1 capsule daily with food, a few hours before or after medications.
 
At the labelled dose, 120 capsules provide a 120-day supply.
Taking zinc with food can reduce nausea. Check multivitamins, cold remedies and other supplements to avoid unintentionally combining several sources of zinc.
 
MEDICATION AND SAFETY CAUTIONS
Twenty-five milligrams is above the daily requirement for most adults, although it remains below the adult tolerable upper intake level of 40 mg from all sources. Prolonged high zinc intake can reduce copper absorption and potentially cause copper deficiency, anemia, neurological symptoms or changes in cholesterol.
 
This formula does not contain copper. Ask our pharmacist whether copper intake or laboratory monitoring should be considered if using it long term, particularly when also taking zinc from a multivitamin or another supplement.
 
Zinc can reduce the absorption of:
Tetracycline antibiotics, such as doxycycline
Quinolone antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin
Penicillamine
Iron, calcium and copper supplements when taken together
 
Take it a few hours apart from medications and other mineral supplements. Ask our pharmacist for a medication-specific schedule rather than estimating the interval.
 
Consult a healthcare practitioner before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for anyone younger than 19, or if you have kidney disease, an unexplained mineral deficiency or a condition affecting nutrient absorption.
 
Possible effects include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, headache or a metallic taste. Stop use and seek advice if symptoms are severe or persistent. Keep out of reach of children.
