WHY WE STOCK IT
A reusable menstrual cup made in Canada from flexible, 100% medical-grade silicone. Instead of absorbing menstrual fluid, the DivaCup collects it and can be worn for up to 12 consecutive hours before being emptied and cleaned.
Model 1 holds approximately 26 mL—the equivalent of about five regular tampons—and is DivaCup’s most popular average-fit size.
BEST FOR
People aged 18 and older with an average vaginal-canal fit and medium to heavy menstrual flow. Age is only a general sizing guide; anatomy, cervix position, pelvic-floor tone, flow and previous childbirth can all affect which cup fits best.
Anyone with a lower cervix, persistent leakage, discomfort or difficulty opening the cup may require a different size or menstrual product.
HOW TO USE IT
Before first use, place the cup in an open pot of boiling water for 5–10 minutes.
Ensure it does not touch the bottom or sides of the pot, where it could be damaged.
To insert:
- Wash your hands and the cup thoroughly.
- Fold the cup using a U-fold, push-down fold or another comfortable technique.
- Relax your pelvic muscles and insert the folded cup horizontally toward the tailbone—not straight upward.
- Allow it to open and rotate the base of the cup completely to help establish a seal.
- Check that the cup has opened and feels comfortable.
Empty and clean the cup at least once every 12 hours, or sooner on heavier-flow days.
To remove it, wash your hands, relax and gently pinch the base to release the seal before easing the cup out. Do not pull it out by the stem alone. Empty the contents into the toilet, wash the cup and reinsert it as required.
CLEANING AND CARE
Rinse the cup initially with cold water to reduce staining, then wash it with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free, oil-free cleanser. Ensure the small air holes beneath the rim remain clear.
At the end of each menstrual cycle, boil the cup for 5–10 minutes. Allow it to dry completely and store it in the breathable cotton pouch provided. Do not keep it in an airtight container or plastic bag.
Inspect the cup regularly and replace it if the silicone becomes sticky, powdery, cracked, severely discoloured or otherwise deteriorated.
SAFETY CAUTIONS
Menstrual cups have been associated with rare cases of toxic shock syndrome. Remove the cup and seek urgent medical care if sudden fever, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, muscle pain or a sunburn-like rash develops during use.
Do not use the cup:
- For postpartum bleeding
- During vaginal intercourse
- As contraception or protection against sexually transmitted infections
- If insertion or removal causes significant pain
- Following pelvic surgery or childbirth until a healthcare professional confirms that internal menstrual products are appropriate
If you have an intrauterine device, pelvic-organ prolapse, vaginismus, recurrent vaginal infections or another gynecological condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional before use. Always release the cup’s seal before removal and take care not to pull the IUD strings.
Stop use and seek advice if you experience persistent pain, urinary difficulty, unusual discharge, irritation, recurrent leakage or difficulty removing the cup.
If the cup cannot be removed and has been inserted for more than 12 hours, obtain medical assistance. Never attempt removal with tweezers, pliers or another tool.
