A single-ingredient bee product consisting of flower pollen gathered and formed into granules by honeybees. Its naturally variable mixture can contain protein, carbohydrates, fatty acids and plant compounds, giving it a mildly floral flavour and colourful appearance.
 
BEST FOR
Adults who enjoy bee pollen as a whole-food topping for yogurt, oatmeal, cereal or smoothies. Its colour, taste and nutritional composition can vary according to the flowers, season and location from which the bees collected pollen.
 
Bee pollen is often promoted for energy, immunity, cholesterol, allergies and “detoxification,” but reliable human evidence is insufficient to establish these benefits. It is a food—not a treatment for seasonal allergies, asthma, liver disease or another medical condition.
 
HOW TO USE IT
Sprinkle a small amount over yogurt, cereal or oatmeal, or blend it into a smoothie or cool beverage.
 
The manufacturer does not provide a standardized serving size on its current product page. If you have never eaten bee pollen, begin with only a few granules and wait for any reaction before gradually increasing the amount.
 
Beginning with a small quantity does not eliminate the risk of a serious allergic reaction. Anyone with pollen, bee-product or environmental allergies should seek professional advice before trying it.
 
MEDICATION AND SAFETY CAUTIONS
Do not use if you are allergic to pollen, bee products or bee stings. Bee pollen can cause severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, particularly in people with seasonal allergies or asthma.
 
Stop eating it and seek emergency help immediately if you develop:
Difficulty breathing, wheezing or throat tightness
Swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat
Widespread hives, dizziness or fainting
Repeated vomiting or other signs of a serious allergic reaction
 
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding because safety has not been established and the manufacturer advises pregnant women not to consume it.

Take warfarin or another anticoagulant

Have previously reacted to honey, propolis, royal jelly or another bee product
Are immunocompromised

A possible interaction between bee pollen and warfarin has been reported. Additional INR monitoring may be required, and the combination should not be started without professional guidance.
 
Bee pollen is not the same as honey, but raw bee products may still contain environmental or microbial contaminants. Young children and immunocompromised individuals should not use it unless a healthcare professional has confirmed that the specific product is appropriate.
