WHY WE STOCK IT
A clear, odourless and lightweight carrier oil that remains liquid at room temperature. Fractionated coconut oil absorbs readily without the heavier texture or coconut aroma of ordinary solid coconut oil.
The economical 1 L amber-glass bottle is useful for massage, moisturizing the skin and hair, diluting essential oils and preparing small batches of lotions, creams, soaps and other cosmetic products.
BEST FOR
People seeking a stable, low-odour carrier oil for:
- Body and massage oils
- Dry or rough skin
- Hair and scalp treatments
- Essential-oil roller blends
- Homemade creams, lotions and soaps
- Removing oil-soluble makeup
Fractionated coconut oil is highly refined and differs from virgin coconut oil. Much of the long-chain fat has been removed, leaving primarily lighter caprylic and capric triglycerides. It stays liquid but does not provide all the same properties as unrefined coconut oil.
HOW TO USE IT
For skin: Apply a small amount to clean, slightly damp skin and massage gently until absorbed.
For hair: Work a few drops through dry ends or use a small amount as a pre-shampoo scalp or hair treatment. Shampoo thoroughly afterward.
For massage: Use alone or as the carrier portion of a properly diluted essential-oil blend.
For cosmetic preparations: Measure with clean, dry equipment and follow a tested formulation. Products containing water require an appropriate preservative; oil alone does not prevent microbial growth in water-based preparations.
When adding essential oils, follow the essential-oil manufacturer’s dilution directions. Dilution requirements vary according to the oil, body area, age, pregnancy status and intended use. Fractionated coconut oil dilutes essential oils but does not make every essential oil safe for topical use.
SAFETY CAUTIONS
For external cosmetic use only unless the physical bottle specifically states that it is food-grade and suitable for ingestion. Do not swallow or use it as a dietary MCT oil based solely on the product name.
Avoid contact with the eyes. If contact occurs, rinse carefully with lukewarm water. Do not apply to infected skin, deep wounds or severe burns.
Patch-test before widespread use, especially on sensitive or acne-prone skin. Stop use if redness, itching, swelling, breakouts or another reaction develops.
Fractionated coconut oil does not provide reliable sun protection and should not replace sunscreen. It can make a bathtub or shower floor slippery, so clean spills promptly.
Essential oils can cause burns, allergic reactions, medication-related concerns or sun sensitivity when used incorrectly. Do not use undiluted essential oils on the skin, and obtain professional advice before preparing blends for infants, young children, pregnancy or individuals with medical conditions.
Keep the oil and any prepared essential-oil blends out of reach of children and pets.
INGREDIENT INFORMATION
Ingredient: Fractionated coconut oil (Cocos nucifera), commonly identified cosmetically as caprylic/capric triglycerides.
It is produced from coconut kernels through hydrolysis and fractionation, resulting in a refined, clear and virtually odourless liquid oil. The product remains liquid at room temperature and is more resistant to oxidation than ordinary coconut oil.
No added fragrance, colour or preservative is identified in the available product information. A recognized organic certification for this exact product could not be verified; do not advertise it as certified organic unless the physical bottle displays a valid certification mark.
ALLERGEN AND DIETARY INFORMATION
No soy ingredient is identified in the available formula. However, manufacturing cross-contact controls could not be verified, so the product should not be guaranteed soy-free.
Coconut is the source ingredient. Highly refined fractionated coconut oil may contain very little residual protein, but customers with a serious coconut allergy should consult an allergist or the manufacturer before use.
The available ingredient information is consistent with a vegan product, but formal vegan, gluten-free and nut-free certifications could not be confirmed.
STORAGE
Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Refrigeration is not required.
Use clean, dry hands and utensils to prevent contamination. Discard the oil if it develops an unusual odour, colour, cloudiness or texture. Available supplier information indicates a shelf life of at least two years under appropriate storage conditions; follow any expiry or lot-specific directions on the physical bottle.
