A Canadian-grown, certified-organic golden flaxseed meal with a mild, nutty flavour. Cold milling makes the seed’s fibre, lignans and plant-based omega-3 fat more accessible while helping protect its naturally delicate oils from unnecessary heat.
 
BEST FOR
Adding soluble and insoluble fibre, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) omega-3 and mild nutty flavour to everyday meals. Golden and brown flaxseed are nutritionally similar; golden flax is often preferred for its lighter colour and flavour.
 
ALA is a beneficial plant-based omega-3, but the body converts only a limited amount into EPA and DHA. Flax meal is therefore not nutritionally equivalent to fish or algae oil.
 
HOW TO USE IT
Start with 1 tablespoon daily and increase gradually as tolerated. Stir into oatmeal, yogurt, smoothies, soups or cereal, or add it to muffins, pancakes and homemade bread. Drink adequate fluids when increasing fibre intake.
 
To make a flax “egg,” mix 1 tablespoon of flax meal with 3 tablespoons of water and allow it to thicken for 5–10 minutes. This works well as a binder in many baking recipes but is not nutritionally equivalent to an egg.
 
DIGESTIVE & MEDICATION CAUTIONS
Increasing fibre too quickly may cause gas, bloating or changes in bowel movements. People with difficulty swallowing, an intestinal narrowing or a suspected bowel obstruction should seek professional advice before using concentrated fibre products.
 
As a precaution, take flax meal at least two hours before or after oral medications and supplements because fibre may affect their absorption. Ask our pharmacist about appropriate spacing if you take thyroid medication, diabetes medication or another time-sensitive medicine.
 
Do not consume it if you have a flaxseed allergy. Seek urgent care if hives, facial swelling, wheezing or difficulty breathing occurs.

STORAGE INFORMATION
After opening, reseal the pouch and refrigerate it to protect the ground flax oils from oxidation. Freezing can extend freshness. Discard it if it develops a distinctly bitter, sharp or paint-like odour or taste.
