A rich botanical carrier oil obtained from the seeds of the tamanu tree. Its naturally occurring fatty acids help soften the skin, support the moisture barrier and reduce the rough, tight feeling associated with dry or weather-stressed skin.
 
Karooch identifies this variety as originating in Madagascar, where the fruits are traditionally gathered from coastal tamanu trees.
 
BEST FOR
Dry, rough or mature-looking skin and small areas that need a heavier, protective facial or body oil. It can be applied alone, blended with a lighter carrier oil or incorporated into an appropriately formulated cosmetic product.
 
Tamanu oil has a naturally thick texture, green-to-brown colour and distinctive nutty or earthy aroma. These characteristics do not necessarily indicate spoilage.
 
Although tamanu oil is traditionally promoted for scars, eczema, acne, wounds and infections, it is a cosmetic oil—not a proven treatment for these conditions.
 
HOW TO USE IT
For facial use, warm 1–3 drops between clean fingertips and gently press the oil into slightly damp skin. Begin with a small amount because tamanu oil is richer and more concentrated than many common carrier oils.
 
For body use, massage a small quantity into clean, damp skin. It may also be blended with jojoba, fractionated coconut or another compatible carrier oil to create a lighter texture.
 
When using it as a carrier for essential oils, follow a tested dilution suitable for the intended user and application. Tamanu oil does not make an irritating or unsafe essential oil appropriate for skin use.
 
SAFETY CAUTIONS
For external cosmetic use only. Do not swallow. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth and other mucous membranes.
 
Patch-test before widespread use:
Apply a small amount to intact skin on the inner forearm.
Leave the area undisturbed and monitor it for 24–48 hours.
Do not continue if redness, itching, swelling, blistering or persistent burning develops.
 
Tamanu oil has caused allergic contact dermatitis in some individuals. Use particular caution if you have sensitive skin, eczema, multiple plant allergies or a serious seed or tree-nut allergy.
 
Do not apply it to deep wounds, severe burns, infected skin or actively bleeding areas. Seek medical assessment for spreading redness, increasing warmth, pus, fever, significant pain or a wound that is not healing.
 
Stop use if acne, irritation or another skin condition worsens. Consult a healthcare professional before using it on infants or very young children.

Tamanu oil naturally contains oleic, linoleic, palmitic and stearic fatty acids, along with minor resinous plant compounds.
 
Available Karooch information describes this as a pure carrier oil sourced from Madagascar. However, a current manufacturer specification confirming the extraction method, organic certification and whether vitamin E or another antioxidant is added could not be located. Confirm the ingredient declaration on the physical 100 mL bottle before advertising it as single-ingredient, cold-pressed or certified organic.
 
STORAGE
Close the bottle tightly after each use and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat.
 
Natural thickening or cloudiness can occur at cooler temperatures. Warm the closed bottle gently between the hands to restore fluidity. Do not use the oil if it develops mould, unexpected separation or a distinctly rancid odour.
