Although lemongrass is frequently included in outdoor sprays, this product is not a Health Canada–registered insect repellent. Do not claim that it protects against mosquitoes, ticks or insect-borne illnesses.
 
HOW TO USE IT
For diffusion, add only the amount recommended by the diffuser manufacturer. Use intermittently in a well-ventilated room rather than continuously.
 
For topical use, dilute it thoroughly in a carrier oil or incorporate it into a properly formulated cosmetic product. Lemongrass oil is rich in citral and may irritate the skin at relatively low concentrations. Follow a tested formulation or obtain guidance from a qualified aromatherapist.
 
Patch-test the finished diluted product before wider use. Do not add undiluted essential oil directly to bathwater because it does not dissolve in water and may contact the skin at full strength.
 
Do not mix it into a water-based spray without an appropriate solubilizer and preservative. Oil and water alone will separate, potentially exposing the skin to concentrated droplets.
 
SAFETY CAUTIONS
For external use only. Do not swallow. If swallowed, contact a poison-control centre promptly and do not induce vomiting unless instructed.
 
Never apply undiluted lemongrass oil to the skin. Avoid the eyes, mouth, inner ears, mucous membranes, broken skin and highly sensitive areas. Wash your hands after handling it.
 
Citral-rich lemongrass oil can cause burning, irritation or allergic contact dermatitis. Stop use immediately and wash the area if persistent redness, itching, blistering, swelling or discomfort develops.
 
The manufacturer advises avoiding use during pregnancy or while under medical care unless approved by a healthcare professional. Consult a qualified professional before use while breastfeeding, around young children or if you have asthma, eczema, highly sensitive skin or another significant medical condition.
 
Use diffusion cautiously around pets and always allow animals to leave the room. Do not apply essential oils directly to a pet or add them to its food or water. Consult a veterinarian before using lemongrass oil around animals.
 
Concentrated essential oil is combustible. Keep it away from heat, sparks and open flames.

Citral, geraniol and limonene-related fragrance compounds may cause an allergic skin reaction in sensitive individuals, particularly as the oil oxidizes.

It contains no carrier oil and is not pre-diluted.
 
STORAGE
Keep tightly closed in its original container and store upright in a cool, dark, well-ventilated location away from sunlight, heat and flames. Limiting exposure to heat, light and air helps slow oxidation.
 
Keep securely out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the oil if its aroma, colour or consistency changes noticeably.
